Besides being known as Anishinabe, Ojibwa, Ojibway and Saulteaux they are possibly best known as Ojibwe People or the Ojibwe Tribe at both Canada and the United States. Their original homeland was located at the northeastern part of the United States and southeastern Canada. Prophesy instigated their west expansion 1,000's of years ago. Told to find seven stopping places and a turtle shaped island, their west explorations led them to what is now the Great Falls, Montana region where they found the stopping places. They are the five waterfalls of the Great Falls of the Missouri, Giant Spings and the turtle shaped island at Giant Springs. Whites either submerged the infamous island by building a small dam to create a reservoir at Giant Springs or eliminated the infamous island. However, we know an island was located at Giant Springs because of an 1884 photo.
